Provision in the Wilderness
Provision in the Wilderness
Scripture: 1 Kings 19:1-9
Elijah is one of my favorite Bible characters. 1 Kings 18 is an amazing chapter that show’s God’s power through Elijah, it’s a must-read. First, Elijah defeats the prophets of Baal. Then after no rainfall for 3.5 years, he prayed seven times for it to rain and it did, and finally outruns a chariot! The faith, persistence, and confidence in this chapter are so inspiring. But then you get to chapter 19.
1 Kings 19 is often where I find myself relating most with Elijah. After Queen Jezebel learns about all Elijah has done, she swears to kill him. Out of fear, Elijah runs into the wilderness and gives up all hope. No matter how much I know or experience God, sometimes I find myself in a wilderness. I find myself running away in fear, anxiety, hopelessness...
YET God does not just leave Elijah to die in the wilderness. He meets him where he is at and provides what he needs. God will meet you where you are at. He will provide what you need! When we think we don’t have enough strength to make it, God will provide the strength so we can. When we feel stuck in our fear, God will provide His confidence.
Maybe you are in the wilderness now. Look to God, let Him provide for you today!
Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, that you always provide what we need. That you have more than enough joy, hope, peace, strength, and grace to see us through our days. Please help me find what I need in you.
